I know this is off topic, and I know I don't post that much, but I have a rant.
Given the fact it is September, and I'm in high school, Homecoming is soon approaching.

I was talking about how I wasn't going to go because going single sucks, the girl who I was thinking about asking came up to me and asked me to the dance. I obviously said yes, and all was great, I felt great, like I finally overcame the 'nerd' image I've struggled to get rid of.

The an hour after school, I get a text,

"Hi, M-Powwerr (obviously she didn't call me that), I was not serious in English BTW"

EDIT-She was apparently joking with her friend, neither of them were going anyway, because the classroom was loud I didn't hear the rest of it..Now I feel kind of bad for ranting. But I still don't think that's a very

Ouch. Though, be thankful your experience wasn't nearly as bad as my own.

Let's rewind the clock to 2011, and it was my Senior Year of High School. A couple months before Prom, I decided to give dating a try.

Long story short, I went on a couple dates with this girl I had a huge crush on. Ultimately, she sent me to the "friend-zone" but also promised it would be temporary (due to some life issues she was having). Anyway, I took it for truth and asked her out to Prom not too long later. She said yes.

This girl intentionally injured herself and left me at Prom all by myself. My first and only Prom, ruined by a girl that stabbed me in the heart (she added salt to wound later that night by telling me she was going out with her stalker).

Then to shove the bullet even deeper: There was a girl that had a huge crush on me. There was nothing wrong with her and technically, she was everything I could've asked for in a woman. Even better, we've been good friends since elementary school. But I was so blindsided by the other girl that I thought I liked so much. I completely ignored her and probably even pushed away. When I realized my mistake, it was too late and she had disappeared after graduation.

TL;DR - Dating is not easy. The best you can do it laugh it off, pick yourself back up, then go it again!! Good luck!

P.S. Don't be ashamed to call yourself a nerd. I'm a nerd and proud. Screw anyone who looks down upon you for it.

As I just told another member of the Oppo high school lonely hearts club - homeocming/prom are great nights to go out with friends and do things while everyone else is at school on a friday night or whenever. Just remember to wear a suit or tux anyways. Laser tag in a suit? Go karts in a tux? THAT'S IT! GENTLEMEN RACERS NIGHT! Women are welcome too of course :P Make your own version of monaco and go go karting in formal wear.

Find a horse girl. They're usually pretty cute, albeit fucking insane. They also have a very high tolerance of automotive culture even if they don't "get it" because chances are you'll be the same way with horses. You just have to be able to deal with lots of horse hair and the aformentioned insanity.

Be glad that you dodged a bullet. She doesn't seem worth it. Don't ever feel like you have to "overcome an image" for anybody. Work hard at having a wonderful time with cars, conquer all your classes (not even the AP/IB ones are that difficult), do fun stuff with your friends, volunteer/do community outreach to make yourself look good (and meet girls that'll think you're charitable and junk), do extracurricular school activities, and get into an awesome college where there will be many many more girls who you get a fresh start with.
